Cambodia promoted to Asia/Oceania Group III of Davis Cup tennis

Cambodia gained qualification to Asia/Oceania Group III for next year’s Davis Cup competition after winning the Group IV event in the Kingdom yesterday, held at Bahrain Tennis Federation courts in Isa Town.

The Cambodians claimed their promotion after defeating Singapore 2-1 in their play-off final.

They now join Sri Lanka in the higher division in 2023.

Cambodia hosts 2023 ITF Asian 14 and Under Junior Championships

The 2023 International Tennis Federation (ITF) Asian 14 and Under Junior Championships opened yesterday at the Morodok Techo Stadium Tennis Centre with 48 players participating.

The much-awaited ITF tournament kicked off officially yesterdaym, marking the first time the Tennis Federation of Cambodia (Tennis Cambodia) will host the tournament which runs from September 4 to 8.

The tournament hosts 48 players who are divided into two groups of 24 boys and 24 girls.

The ITF Asian Junior Championship is an invitation-only event that is based on performance criteria and includes 16 winners and runners-up of four different events on the ATF 14U tournament circuit. Another 24 boys and girls are joining the tournament and are also participating on the ATF 14U circuit.

The young athletes have travelled from across Asia, including South Korea, India, Hong Kong, Thailand, Pakistan, Indonesia, Iran, Singapore, Malaysia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, the Philippines, Taiwan and host Cambodia.
