Maritime Group has signed an agreement with PHG International, which won the bid to build Cambodia’s first international racetrack worth approximately €26 million.

According to Fresh News on 28 October 2021, this racetrack is the first one of Cambodia recognized by the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile) and is 100% invested by the Maritime Group.

The project will be built on 160 hectares of land, of which the exact location has yet to be disclosed. However, the location will be somewhere in between the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville expressway, only about 70 kilometers from Phnom Penh.

[According to] Oknha Heng Sethy, owner of Maritime Group, the project includes the construction of a Formula 3 racetrack, Motor Sports, Shopping Outlet, and international resorts, which is expected to begin by the end of 2022.

Excellent addition.

Slight concern over health & safety, access to hospitals, fire service etc, but I'm sure they've got all that planned out beyond just taking a Lambo for a burnout ...

If it’s anything like that moto track it won’t be an enjoyable experience on open days.
Middle class locals on sports bikes who’s only previous experience was a Honda Dream.

It will be falling apart in six months so the well connected track maintenance contractor will be assured of ongoing overpriced work.

If it’s approved by the FIA it’ll be a FIA sourced contractor who’ll build to their standards, including everything else that international race circuits have, plus regular visits by FIA officials during and after building.

They won’t just give a certification willy nilly.

Or it’ll be downgraded due to red tape and corruption and the FIA will have nothing to do with it…and it’ll fall apart in six months.

Tuktuks 500 miles Fighty Race League, just like romans in arenas a while ago.

That would be popular and entertaining.

Eh?
It’s a private enterprise with probable investors. What’s it got to do with handouts and the poor?

Infrastructure development employs locals. They then spend their wages on stuff. The people who receive that money then buy stuff. It’s how it works.
You can’t have a developed nation without infrastructure. (Unless it’s London)

Anyways up.
It’s a Formula E track. It’s the future.

South Korea built a Formula One track about 10 years ago. Sadly, it was poorly planned and has since been dropped from the Formula One calendar.
