Re: All Things Aviation

U.S. Air Force pilot Robert M. White after the last flight of an X-15 with the LR-11 engines. White flew combat missions in southeast Asia, the only X-15 pilot to see active duty in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. https://www.nasa.gov/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/x-15-rollout-22-white-last-lr-11-flt...

Re: Podiatrist recommendation

Usually for broken / split / scattered nails superglue does the trick. Of course that works only, if you don't put again force on it at that time... On the toes it might take a few months, since they grow very slow compared to the fingers. The rest of the abbreviations I have no clue about TTFU pil...

Podiatrist recommendation

Anyone with a recommendation for a podiatrist in Phnom Penh? Niggling big toenail injury from years of busting it playing football. TTFU pills not required, just needs a bit of TLC to be less annoying.

Re: It's going to be hot this afternoon in Phnom Penh

My old condo in Toul Kork used to have a generator; there was a fixed amount per year attributed to it along with some other various "maintenance" items, I think $120 from memory, so $10 a month - nothing beyond that. Luckily I've lived in Toul Kork since I moved here in 2007, power cuts a...

Re: UN picks Saudi Arabia to lead women’s rights forum despite ‘abysmal’ record

I think our Mab means the Philistines, who are fairly unrelated to modern day Palestinians. The former originated in the Aegean islands, Crete, etc - and whilst fighting the Hebrews of that time is a tenuous link, the Palestinians are arabs. The linkage of the name between the two being that the Rom...

@PSD-Kiwi will give the lowdown o ER Visa applications, but that's the first I heard of registering with the UK Embassy for anything other than trying to get a Chevening Scholar pass or whatever nonsense they get up to nowadays.

Re: 5000 riel notes

You can change them at any of the money changers - folks still identifiable by their gold lettered $1=4xxxx KHR on red background signs; they don't just do FX. They are all over the country and are probably gearing up on small notes for Khmer New Year also: https://www.khmertimeskh.com/wp-content/up...

Germany have four World Cups, only Brazil have five ... hard to argue the second statement on a technicality, but it was complicated.

Re: Barang punches female staff in the face @ Big Easy

The story I've been told is....it was closing time, really late, no customers, only him. He wanted service, staff said no, closing. He went behind the bar, wanted to help himself to something, bar girl refused. He became aggressive, she defended her stock, he didn't like it and lost his shit. Typic...
