Re: A positive view
I have lived and worked in Saudi, Qatar, London, Hanoi and Saigon. In every place I found people who either said it was the worst place to live or the best place, like Dickens. Seems Cambo has its share of half full/ half empties. Auckland? So you looked online and found it was a great place. Did yo...

A positive view
I often read through these forums, and usually its a depressing tale of crime, drunkenness, muggings, sh*thole bar areas, pedophilia, boredom and lonely expat deaths and suicides. I am sure there is plenty of this in PP, the same as any large city in the world - first world or third world. I come fr...

Re: Follow up of Chris Knight arrest
According to the police report he was arrested in March, and given it is now June, the maximum time he could have been locked up is 3.5 months and since he is being held for deportation it is obviously less than even that time. From his reference to Te Reo and his photo he is a down and out Maori gu...

Re: Expat tipoff?
I do not believe that rents in PP are higher or as high as tents in Sydney or Auckland. Example. 10 years ago I owned a restaurant in Ponsonby, Auckland. My rent was $1000 a week. Oh you were most certainly being ripped off, paying $1000 a week for something you already "owned!" You misun...

Expat tipoff?
Ever wonder why 'barang' style food is so expensive? Most expat owned restaurants in PP have menus with similar pricing to Aussie or NZ prices. In those countries labour is high cost...minimum wage around $18 an hour. Food ingredients are expensive, rents are typically 30% of turnover. The average h...

Motorbike License in Cambodia?
I have seen a lot of info about 10 year licenses and how to get them but they all seem to be about car licenses. They talk about driving tests, parking etc. Is there a motorbike riding test as well or is the 10 year license only for cars?
