Re: KhemEnglish among local kids.
I've noticed it with young adults. It's often for convenience as there aren't suitable words in Khmer or the ones they have are too long. As an example that I don't think is used in speech but is used on road markings: Imagine writing this on a road: ចំណតរថយន្តក្រុង chamnt rothayont krong Or the al...

Re: How would you invest?
I recently made some fixed deposit 5yo with Canadia USD 6.25% KHR 7.60% most of the money is in the USD, because I thinkt it's possible one day they could remove the fix rate USD-KHR with the latter losing so much. What is your opinion on this? You choose the deposit only based on interest rate? 5 ...

Re: New Hospital
The church is already building the first public hospital in 20 years in Cambodia, and refurbishing 3 other hospitals as well. All this from a church thousands of miles away. Helping Cambodians just because they are fellow humans and deserve care. I love propaganda from the church. But .. A public h...

Re: KhemEnglish among local kids.
IMHO those with a phone with communication apps don't come from the poorest, and have picked up some English, one way or another. Since writing in English is so much easier than in Khmer my kid and friends do all the written communication in English. Spoken can be Khmer or English, depending on the ...

Re: AirAsia Plans to Launch Low-Cost Airline in Cambodia
Speaking of new roads, the road to Koh Kong will be finished about the same time as the new airport is due to open. That will make eastern Thailand an attractive propostion by road, and much more economic than flying if you have a group of 4. And you get carbon footprint points too, if you care abo...

Re: ENT
Alternatively you could try the antibiotic Bactrim Forte while deciding what to do. It's a common antibiotic for infections in the middle- and inner ear.

Re: New Hospital
So much for some members of CEO claiming these are just simpleton ‘god worshippers’ out to brainwash the Khmer people but otherwise not provide any real value to the Cambodians. A bag of rice and bible lessons in exchange for the faith and church visits of the poor. That's the local deal here. [iro...

Re: Tourist Traps
Grab and Passapp tariff from the airport. I assume you're actually referring to the airport tuk-tuks/taxis...if you book via the apps and go out to the pick-up point (old airport train station - they don't let them inside now) you pay whatever the ride is worth. Usually costs me about KHR 30,000 / ...
