Re: Laptop buying

Op00pps thanks for the heads up guys. MBK is definitely not in Pantip. Its final, we've talked it over and will go to Bangkok, spent a week or two there too just to make it more worth while. Also decided will just head on to IT city and hope to get what I want there. If not well a lot other options ...

Re: Laptop buying

thanks for the responses. You are encouraging me to do a quick weekend trip to Bangkok :D (will see if I can arrange that then). If the quick 2 day trip tp Bangkok pushes through will most likely head to IT City/MBK at Pantip Plaza. Hopefully they will be open first weekend of March - no surprise re...

Payoneer in Cambodia

Hi guys, Does anybody have experience using Payoneer in Phnom Penh? How much are you usually charged for the cross-border fee when withdrawing in an atm? Can you recommend a bank atm that has minimal or no transaction fees? What is the usual daily amount limit set by banks when using Payoneer? Can y...

Laptop buying

Hi guys, Not yet there but almost. I will be buying a new laptop in PP (or saigon) instead of bringing my ageing one there. Is ptc or pcs the best place to buy new laptops? Is it safe to assume they are authorized dealers? Im leaning towards asus. Basically what I need is a brand new laptop with 8g ...

phnom penh blackout questions, area with the least power interruption

Hello, we are now also considering pp as an area for our base. how often are the power cuts in pp? are they frequent? how long do they usually last?

When do they usually occur? what months?

Also, what areas (to live) have the least or shortest power interruption?

Thanks once again.

Re: hotel/hostel with backup power, etc. in siem reap

$500 a month would surely get you somewhere with a balcony, hell even a nice house, plenty of second hand petrol gennies for about $150 for a 3500. I paid $500 for a new Honda 7000. Power cuts a plenty here It seems $500 now is a little over the top for our needs. I'll stick to my $300 budget then ...

Re: hotel/hostel with backup power, etc. in siem reap

Luckily, I lived in a hotel at the time but it was pretty rough. Wifi and Sim signals are generally very good. There are very few serviced apartments and I am not sure which guesthouse will let you cook. I can ask around though. Thank you so much for the offer. Its still a few months till we get th...

Re: hotel/hostel with backup power, etc. in siem reap

wow five days, I imagined that would have been a nightmare.. So if most guesthouses have backup power now (even the ones 2km away form town?) I guess I should concentrate my search on which ones give the most consistent wifi signal, has upper floors (for better sim signal?) pool (or near one) and al...
