Re: So, what's going on in Siem Reap?
So, SR is in much like the condition noted in an earlier thread months ago. If you like to walk, drink and eat alone, with the bonus of filthy air, construction noise and power outages, SR is the place. Sad indeed. Also sounds much like the situation in multiple Thai cities, such as Pattaya, Hua Hi...

Re: Man Falls Dead in the Street in Porsenchey District
Best way to go if your time is up anyway. No drama. No stress. No sadness. No prolonged agony. One minute you're walking to the shop, and the next.. well, that was kinda your last minute. RIP to the guy though. Clearly not so good for the loved ones. Totally agree. Best way to go is not to know you...

Re: So, what's going on in Siem Reap?
The streets are a mess, massive trenches being dug across main streets, back streets just uneven dirt roads. Ideal for an off-road biker. All bars are open but most are empty - went down Sok San Rd last Saturday, some bars had the odd patron but pretty quiet. Most restaurants are open but very few c...

Re: New law on face mask in public ?
Police are stopping and handing out fines in SR to people (khmer and barang) not wearing face masks on the street. Saw it happen yesterday at the old market bridge. Remember khmer new year is only a few weeks away, so any excuse for income generating I guess. Wear a damn mask, it wont kill you, its ...

Re: SCAM ALERT!! For those who's looking for job in Phnom Penh, beware of this guy.
Quite an amusing and detailed thread about a girl who is apparently owed $500 by her ex-boss, and a bunch of white knights who support her story without hearing both sides. Typical CEO. Nothing better to do? Americas Cup starts in about 2 hours, seems a better use of time than giving a shit about th...

Re: Quarantine longer than 14 days
I've been in quarantine since February 21 because the government closed the building. I was told I might get out on March 11. That's 17 days. Apparently they don't test over weekends, so the 14 days is a lie. It's been constant lies from the Khmer. The police downstairs don't allow for deliveries a...

Re: Study claims you will spend $389,000 for 14 years of retirement in Cambodia
These surveys always show that Vietnam has about the lowest cost of living for retirement. The only problem is, unless you are a US citizen, you cannot get more than a 3 month visa that has to be renewed by leaving the country. Of course a quick border run to KOW can be done in one day, but its a ha...

Re: Study claims you will spend $389,000 for 14 years of retirement in Cambodia
$389,000 /14 = 27,785 / 12 = $2315 per month. Sounds about right... I just did that same math, and I'd say MOST retirees could cut that in almost half easily, so I'd say $200,000 is probably fair for most. Stay away from 104/110/130/136 and $200,000 would be more than enough. Stay away from deathpa...

Re: Study claims you will spend $389,000 for 14 years of retirement in Cambodia
Seems a bit odd, with assumptions about eating Western food at home, and going out once a week. Also it must be location specific to Phnom Penh? - Modern / Western style one bedroom apartment Siem Reap average $300 to $350 a month inc power - Going out - various happy hours and average beer price $0...

Re: Covid spread by Chinese in PP - some history
[/quote] China is a big country with a lot of empty land, which brings down the average population density. Most of their very large population is squeezed tightly together on the east coast. I’m not arguing against your assertion that a lot of epidemic diseases seem to originate there, but I don’t ...
