Isn’t the Japanese drainage scheme finished yet? Near the Palace used to be knee deep and the Kandal Market thigh deep. How is the market nowadays?

Re: $50 - $100 for bar girls. What am I missing?
Have the bars and the girls attitudes changed much? I went to one bar I think when I last visited in 2018, it was Oscars. When I used to visit bars regularly up to the end of 2014 there were some girls who asked for $50 or more. But they recognised the tourists instantly. Especially the Pattaya type...

Please women don’t ride a moto at 3am. Are you nuts? You wouldn’t do it in Queensland. Crime far worse here than Kampot.

Croc attacks common up here in the Deep North of Australia. Always a croc in every creek. If they are a nuisance they trap them but another dominant male will take over.

I thought all the islands belonged to the Navy in the past. I know Kith Meng and his partner had big plans for the islands years ago. Last time I went to Saracen Bay in 2013 the doof doof place with the huge speakers had ruined the place. No compensation for investors obviously. And European refusin...

Good on you Roz. You know Cambodia well and have a genuine affection for the country. It is the best little country in the world in my opinion.
And an infusion of South Africans would be very good for rugby. When I lived there club rugby in Phnom Penh was dominated by the dastardly French.

How big is the middle class now. And what would a middle class income be? From what I have read people like hotel receptionists earn $200 a month. The same as 2014. Is this the case?

Re: Planning to visit Patong next week - is that a no-no now?
When I went to Patong in 1979 or so we walked over the hill from Nai Harn. There were still mouse deer in the forest then. There were abandoned bungalows on Kata or Karon. Club Med was built there later. That block of land was $20,000 then. Somewhere on the way we found magic mushrooms and got prett...
