Re: How is it for YOU returning to live in the west after several years abroad?

Montreal/Quebec is a totally different country in many respects. Different government, taxation, laws even, and if you're an Anglophone it's a lot harder to live in without French as a first language. It's also ice cold for 6 months of the year. Just look at Toronto or Vancouver home prices, or the ...

Re: How is it for YOU returning to live in the west after several years abroad?

Something seems off, not sure where you are living if you can’t get a house as a millionaire. I live in what I consider a good area and the neighboring towns are nice as well (top school districts and low crime). I’m not a millionaire and don’t need to be to live here. Maybe pick another town besid...

Re: Do you support Ukraine or Russia?

I haven't mentioned Russia or Ukraine. Your post something says "CIVIL WARS HAVE OFFICIALLY STARTED IN EUROPE" but really what the story says is that there are protests. How can you constantly complain about MSM then put your name to sensationalist BS like that? I feel like you're arguing...

Re: unencumbered or not when buying a used car in Phnom Penh

If you're talking "Autocheck", you can run the VIN (vehicle id number) yourself if you have it and have a card to pay the Autocheck fee (not sure how much these days). It wont tell you everything though, so don't rely on it too heavily, especially if the car is already registered in Cambod...

Re: How is it for YOU returning to live in the west after several years abroad?

I didn't say I'm saving no money, I said I'm saving far less than I thought I'd be able to (and part of that is because we've chosen to live in a nice house with big gardens in a nice village). I'd also note that I only have high school level education. Unless you're a doctor, lawyer or accountant ...

Re: How is it for YOU returning to live in the west after several years abroad?

I hate to say this again, but I still haven't seen a response to my biggest concern about the West and moving back. The rapidly rising cost of living. People keep saying it's great and that the kids like it and all, but what about costs? Even Bubble T admits to making 6 figures and can't save any mo...

Re: Currency

$100 is only 8 50k notes or 4 100k ones. I'm seeing more 50,000 Riel notes around but in many years here I've only ever had one 100,000 Riel note. There were old green 90s ones with Sihanouk on them that only army guys ever seemed to have but I only remember having one modern one ever. I changed it...

Re: Currency

Small note (pun partially intended), it's not too bad paying with larger amounts in riel as well. $100 is only 8 50k notes or 4 100k ones. I remember one time counting $25,000 ish in riel, and it was a lot smaller than I thought it would be. All fit in a typical black plastic bag, and not all of the...

Re: At least 10 dead in Canadian mass stabbing

^^It's so similar I came to find in the states and the native reservations there too (especially in New Mexico where I have connections to). It's also just as ignored in the states as well, most Americans don't even know these problems even exist.
