Personally If I was retired I'd be just as happy to spend a few months here and there. I wouldn't be stuck in Thailand or even necessarily in Cambodia. Then again I'm sure it's possible to get stuck in these places I guess? If you have a girlfriend, wife, dog or kids you wanna spend time with them....

And they are much better because you can sit outside for a moment. Except for water, soda and beer there is really nothing I wanna buy at 7/11. Mostly junk in my opinion. Foodwise at least, tried an iced coffee the last time that was okay.
