Re: Biggest Taiwan Quake in 25 years.
Parents are OK. They live in Taoyuen, near the TPE airport. Thank you for your concerns.
Taiwan is part of the earthquake zone (just like Japan). Just not as often.
That and the yearly typhoon season.
Not mainland China related.

Re: Village gas station burns to the ground.
Last night the local village gas station caught on fire and burned to the ground. Along with the family home in the back. Local fire truck called in. Then all the fire trucks in Siem Reap city. Supposedly 40 trucks (or 17, numbers unclear.). Multiple explosions with the initial fire. Then the truck...

Re: UK pension reciprocal agreement or not...
Do Brits have an option for IRAs or any other additional alternative retirement plans in addition to the pension during their working years? Private pensions arrangements are very common. Company pensions are also common although not as lucrative as in years gone by. It wouldn't be strange for some...

Re: Expat Youtubers
First time I had ‘spaghetti bolognese’ was in Cambodia, in fact in Phnom Penh. Thought it was some special spaghetti with unique blend of Khmer spices and meats. In fact, just called Spaghetti here in the US. But the various video bloggers give lots of different perspectives and some things to try o...

Re: Expat Youtubers
u live in Cambodia but u'r watching some random bloggers talk about the country?? What’s wrong with that? Just like living on Soi Cowboy does not provide all the beauty Thailand has to offer. I like watching the Russian guy who was raised in an Irish boarding school get settled into his new life in...

Re: Scott Jameson, English-Teaching Magician in Cambodia, Arrested by FBI for Child Pornography
My opinion is that light sentences are a byproduct of the western legal system. Court dockets are filled beyond capacity. Trial by juries - people hate being called to jury duty and possible sequestered for prolonged periods of time. So there is a big push to clear them and serve justice. The quicke...
