Re: Siem Reap visit

I need to know more,Thailand destroys itself too. Always someone else to blame, us farang, evil bastards aren't we. A curse on them but quick to take the Yankee dollar for a touch of pussy.
I resent this police/military state, I want to be left alone.

Siem Reap visit

I think I've introduced myself. I am Frank, UK and Oz, wife is Kanya,Thai and Oz. So I went solo to Siem Reap and ,OMG, what a difference after 13 years since I was last there. My family (Australians) came to visit Angkor Wat, I live near the Cambodian border, 5 hours and I was there. I told them th...

Re: visit in december

I don't mean to sound a grumpy old complainer (I'm failing I know) but computers and the internet have been around a long time. All this, like my tax return in UK and Oz, could be done online. I show the locals my Australian wallet, debit card, driving license and public transport card, plus 50 buck...

Re: visit in december

Gentlemen, thankyou for an informative, even educational thread. I'm confident now of finding my way about and look forward to my visit. I've lived in the Thai boondocks for ten months now putting a smallholding/farm together. I need the buzz of a capital city, a pity if it's lost its edge, that air...

Re: visit in december

There is plenty of good food here, the fault is the preparation and cooking. Marinade in pineapple juice perhaps to tenderise the chewy stuff, then cook slow and long. A Lancashire hotpot is scrag end and spuds, delicious. Despite this being a superbly educational thread let's get back to my origina...

Re: visit in december

My google finger is not broken but, like my new farming career here in Buriram, the best advice comes from other's personal experience, freely and willingly given. It should be a source of pride when asked for your knowledge.

Re: visit in december

They don't understand that poor quality meat needs stewing or roasting but not stir fry for 5 minutes. The food here is crap. A good set of teeth to chew is needed.

Re: visit in december

I didn't mean to start a major thing but slow cooking of meat, then someone suggests Yorkshire puddings. I'm going out of brains here, starving on Isaan food I detest.

Re: visit in december

Yes, some of the technical stuff crippled me. I was thinking of a bread making machine, throw it all in, there's a loaf in the morning. But this guy is interesting. I have many farang friends in Thailand who want good bread. He enjoys his subject, he appreciates it's an art. You don't learn it overn...
