Re: Question for Cambodia Expats particularly those in TEFL industry
IMHO, you will have a far better chance of employment if you teach online, rather than limit yourself to the bricks and mortar schools in Cambodia. There are millions of Chinese, south Korean, Japanese etc students who want to learn/improve their English. Of course, there are already many 'teachers'...

Re: KhemEnglish among local kids.
Here in north Laos the local kids speak a mixture of Lao and Thai, not only with me but between themselves. Having made the effort with private lessons to add Lao language skills to my existing Thai language knowledge I feel like shouting 'Stop speaking Thai!" :) (or should that be 'ຢຸດເວົ້າພາສ...

I can never forgive such poor writing skills. Hope he's not 'teaching' when not spinning de tunez. I have to admit (as a left-handed teacher), that my writing is appalling. I blame my mother because the first time I picked up a pen/pencil when a few years old, I picked it up using my left hand and ...

Re: Do you have children? How many? Poll.
I fit into the 'A lot!' category, in that I have 4 'blood' children,2 Thai step-daughters whom I raised from birth (because their mad mother was .. er ... mad!), and 2 Thai nieces whom I raised from about 3 years old because their parents were shite-poor and were unable to care for their kids. The f...

Re: Russians ordered to leave Sri Lanka within two weeks.
Since the start of the Russia-Ukraine war, my online teaching business has found many new customers with young students whose families have fled Russia/Ukraine and found refuge in various EU countries. Mostly learning Science from me, but also Geography. I always find Russian and Ukrainian students ...

Re: How safe do you feel in Cambodia in the modern world?
I live in north Laos and feel very safe. Although Laos is China's puppet, I don't think there is anything strategic here that would personally affect me. Bomb the various dams and new railway line perhaps, but I live on a hill :) Perhaps I should store a few bags of rice and install those solar pane...

Re: Ferry to Koh Tao sinks - all passengers saved.
The Samui ferries catch fire or sink fairly regularly. Nothing to see here. People rarely die. I ought to feel reassured by that, but for some reason, I don't. It's normal! When I lived in Koh Phangan last year the ferry from Don Sak to the island caught fire. We had to return pronto to the pier. S...
