Has living in Cambodia become 'normalised' for you?

I've lived here now for coming up to eight years, and I was thinking the other day that - it's a little hard to explain this but I'll try my best - I would have expected my life in Cambodia to feel more 'normal' by now than it actually feels. When I'm at home with friends (Khmer or foreign) or just ...

Re: Best Online Resources for learning Khmer

Just had my first one-to-one, which went fairly well. I might use this thread to document my journey if that's ok with the mods. I know that some of the users here can speak Khmer fairly well, and have already been through what I'm going through so it would be good to have a place to get some feedba...

Re: Best Online Resources for learning Khmer

As a former English teacher, you would have noticed that those students that regularly watched English TV programs (maybe, just Cartoon Network) had the best 'listening', 'comprehension' and 'speaking' skills. Youtube has plenty of Khmer language lessons as well as TV programs to watch. As far as T...

https://seasite.niu.edu/khmer/Default.htm i think this one is good for self study. I learned Khmer letters with it but it also has daily conversation topics (from my experience letters is really worth to study, helped me to find many words that i pronounced incorrectly for years) I also have those ...

Re: Is my Electricity Bill high?

Not sure if this has been mentioned before - I haven't read the whole thread - but while most people are correct by blaming A/C for high energy bills, fridges can also be just as much a culprit, especially older ones. My electricity bill is extremely high, about three or four times as much as it sho...

Best Online Resources for learning Khmer

After several years of living here, I have finally bitten the bullet and will begin my first one-to-one Khmer lesson tomorrow. Ironically, my teacher is an old student of mine who I used to teach English to. Since finding out that he is now also a teacher (although not a language teacher) he's offer...

Re: Google Pay or Apple Pay payment method in PP?

I tried registering my ABA card to my Apple Wallet (is that the same as Apple Pay) but it rejected it. I can however use it to make purchases on the App Store.

Re: PM seeks ban on water gun games during KNY after foreign tourist injured

I just got home after going down to Wat Phnom again for the second time during the holiday, seeing as though tonight is the last night, and it was just as incredible as it was on Sunday when I went. Probably even more so. Difficult to tell if there were more people or not, there seemed to be an unco...

Re: Zombie Apocalypse

When I was young, many moons ago, it was common to participate in recreational drugs - weed, ecstasy and occasionally speed were the three main ones. Where I came from, although some people did do heroin, it was very, very frowned upon, and if you were a heroin user, you'd keep it to yourself. Heroi...

Re: Israel and Palestinian Conflict

During a time of most conflicts, you can usually sit down and say "Well, if this side did this, and that side did that, we might be able to find some sort of resolution". For example, if / when Trump is re-elected, it's likely that he will bring about an end to the Ukraine conflict by forc...
