Recent outbound SWIFT tranfers
Has anyone done a SWIFT transfer *outbound from* Cambodia lately? The teller at ABA told my wife it would take 2 or 3 months... I've never had a personal SWIFT transfer under $10K USD take more than 5 business days. But, I do know Cambodia was listed on the money laundering grey list recently, so, p...

Re: Korean Air or Air Canada to Vancouver
Done both, quite a few times. Definitely more attractive stewardesses on Korean Airlines, but, that's true of pretty much all Asian airlines vs western. Discrimination laws and all that... Remember also that Air Canada is a Star Alliance member - so, going with them, there is a chance you'll actuall...

Outbound SWIFT transfers
Hi, Has anyone done an outbound SWIFT transfer to North America (Canada or US) lately? I want to transfer about $70K USD out, but, am concerned since Cambodia has been placed on the FATF grey list in Feb. Talking to HSBC Expat (bank) a couple months ago, they didn't want anything to do with Cambodia...

Re: Bank Drafts in Cambodia?
How are these transactions usually handled here (i.e. > $100K). I've done a couple transactions here that were maybe half that, but, counting out and checking each note on a bigger transaction sounds like fucking misery. Just the smaller transactions I've done have been a big fucking song and dance ...

Re: Bank Drafts in Cambodia?
I've used them from ANZ to buy cars previously, I'd guess most banks would provide such a service. Bouncing a cheque in Cambodia carries a prison sentence, so these are quite 'certified' also. Thanks Spigzy. Which bank(s) have you used? The only thing I can find close is a cashiers check from Acled...

Bank Drafts in Cambodia?
Do any of the banks offer bank drafts?
In particular, ABA would be preferable if anyone has experience with bank drafts (preferable) or certified cheques with them.
Thanks

Re: Kampot's power to the Intl. Village
Locals in Kampot do NOT call this area International Village nor Andoung Khmer ! Ask any local, TukTuk Driver, Merchant etc. about what they call this area and you get: KMAUT JAO as an answer ! Kmaut Jao literally means : GHOST of the Thief ! In the 1980's a lot of robberies, muggins and even murde...

Re: Kampot's power to the Intl. Village
Sure, thanks. The OP could have written that in the title, then used the abbreviation afterwards. Mr Bingham. Some may think you a grumpy old man but you do hit the nail on the head quiet often. Why do people use abbreviations and expect everyone to understand them? There was a thread recently that...

Re: Kampot's power to the Intl. Village
What is this "Intl. Village"? If the OP can't even be bothered to type out the proper name once I don't see why any of us should get too concerned. Low effort. International Village is a name some real estate company invented 4 or 5 years ago, trying to sell a villa development there. It'...
