Pretty, handwritten, apology letters clearly don’t have the same gravitas that they used to.

Re: 5000 riel notes

Im told they have this thing in Cambodia called a "Bank" ( I think my spelling is correct) where you can get thousands of pieces of paper with numbers on them. And you start by taking a paper ticket with a number on it and then watch a screen with lots of numbers on it and wait for your n...

Re: Westerners spend twice as much time on beaches than at Angkor

I wouldn’t imagine that it would be difficult to get in and wander around after dark There are hundreds of guards around, you'd get caught and fined. Surprises me. I’ve been at several all night events within the temple complex and there were been surprisingly few guards around - even although ther...

Re: Westerners spend twice as much time on beaches than at Angkor

Been many times and loved everytime, although must admit it was better before they put in all the paths an guard rails, always found something different BUT the ONE time they opened it at night for a few weeks back in 2009, was magical to walk where kings an queens walked under a full moon with les...

Re: Westerners spend twice as much time on beaches than at Angkor

A lot of them simply don't understand that for westerns it's a beautiful pile of rocks that makes for a great background on their Instagram pictures. I think it's you that doesn't understand. Most westerners who visit Angkor Wat have a greater appreciation of art & culture than that. The first ...

Re: one concert wish i had been

Unpopular opinion. I love the idea of concerts but the actual experience never lived up to the hype in my mind. Standing for hours, queuing, expensive warm beer, invariably have some prick nearby annoying me. I’d def watch the concert in the comfort of my own home - but at the venue, nah not anymore...

Re: Tourist Traps

Metro. I went in there last week to meet someone for a chat. One Gin and Tonic and 3 beers came to $17.79!! (That would be $6.50 in Larry's, and the food is better there). Tiger draught is $3.20 for a small fluted glass with a lot of froth (that old trick). Plus the 10% Vat and 5% service. No wonde...

Re: Family book question

You won’t get your name in the family book. You can get your name in the residence book but not family book.
Where was child born? If in Cambodia, do you have a birth certificate and are you listed as father?

Re: How much are you paying for...

Honestly, I have no idea. I give my wife money for food at the start of each month and I never have to worry about any of this stuff. She keeps what isn’t spent, but we eat well so I don’t worry. I’m very thankful that I don’t have to concern myself with it. Prawns I do know, because occasionally i...
