Re: Kampot - costs of living

I'd like to thank everyone who has contributed to this thread. I'm encouraged by the civil nature of the folks on this board. Perhaps a friendship or two may emerge from my time spent here. Or not... I'm easy going. Too long a post (TL/DR)?: This is a thank you, several questions, my loose plans &am...

Re: Open a Youth Hostel in Cambodia

Well... I presume my post wasn't too harsh. As she answered most of my pointed ?s. I don't ever mean to be a cock, but I can be blunt at times. Sounds like they got the advice and are taking it to heart. We did our job... well you guys did, I'm fairly new here, but felt I was knowledgeable enough to...

Re: American pedo arrested in US after years of Thailand visits

Apologizes for bumping up an old thread, esp., one so disturbing. Anyway... As a single, western male one of my biggest concerns about traveling and possibly living in Cambodia is being erroneously profiled as one of these assholes. I had no problems last visit when with a group, but my next trip I'...

Re: tattoo

May be an odd question - it's there any reason a tattoo of a Bengal Tiger would offend Khmers or other native Cambodians? I have a very nice, but rather prominent one. I was asked about it a lot in Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand on my last trip, but couldn't really understand if it was disliked, was...

Re: Kampot - costs of living

So, if Kampot has been overrun since my last stay, does anyone have a suggestion for an area that's more like the older, sleepier Kampot (2012 - 2013)? Kep is the only place I can think of... But most of you know the country better than myself. I didn't like SHV much. I still going to test out Kampo...

Re: Kampot - costs of living

I wouldn't go as far as calling it hipster heaven, yea theres a few, but it's main (foreigner) demographics tend to be stinky dreadlocked backpackers and retirees. If I were to call anywhere in Cambodia hipster heaven, it would be Siem Reap, BKK1, Toul Sleng, Boueng Kak and TTP. This I don't like r...

Re: Kampot - costs of living

Kampot itself has increasingly become the last resort for those too unbalanced for Sihanoukville. Lots of mumblers and the occasional shouter. Sonja Kill Hospital there has a very good reputation despite the name. Interesting, I thought it was kind of the other way round. Seeing as how Kampot is a ...

Re: Kampot - costs of living

I have a very small... vocabulary, so I steal from other English dialects. Coincidences may occur. I'm happy to be an American of European dissent. Proud? That's difficult theses days... Do I advertise my nationality while traveling? Not intentionally, though I know it's god damn obvious. Few things...
