Re: Farewell to an Era: Phnom Penh International Airport Set to Shut Down to Make Way for New Airport Next Year
By the way, Vinci has commenced construction on the new SHV airport terminal this month. The groundwork actually began two years ago, but now there are workers actively involved in the construction once more. Of course, this project is much smaller in scale, with only a 3 million passenger capacity...

Re: Farewell to an Era: Phnom Penh International Airport Set to Shut Down to Make Way for New Airport Next Year
Perhaps you could have enough space for next 10 years if you would use the army land as well, but then you would have even bigger traffic problem on Russian boulevard in your hands with twice the trucks and passengers travelling on the Russian boulevard. It is already awful during peak hours. And t...

Re: Farewell to an Era: Phnom Penh International Airport Set to Shut Down to Make Way for New Airport Next Year
How was that calculated? I have flown to/from PNH many times before and after covid and have yet to see it "busy" in comparison to other airports Why would you compare with other airports that most likely have a capacity many X compared to PNH? If a airport dont have enough gates to rent ...

Re: Borey living
As said earlier in this thread, there are many different types of boreys, some bad and some good. The better ones are pretty good for families, as usually there are playgrounds, greenery, sports parks, swimming pools, etc. The streets are also quieter. For a single person or couple, I don't really s...

Re: Farewell to an Era: Phnom Penh International Airport Set to Shut Down to Make Way for New Airport Next Year
Vinci website has all the numbers. Exact number for 2019 was 6,029,000. This can be found for example from this report: https://www.vinci-airports.com/sites/default/files/0427_vin_airp_ra-mel-9mogb_ok.pdf Wikipedia seem to have same what Vinci reports on their website. The airport was running at it...

Vinci just got the deal to operate the new airport, and extended the concession deal on Sihanoukville airport. Techo International Airport has nothing to do with Chinese.

Re: Farewell to an Era: Phnom Penh International Airport Set to Shut Down to Make Way for New Airport Next Year
There's a plan for a toll road (above of the 60m boulevard) and also aa plan for a train/tram. I'm fairly sure both will be completed before the new airport hits 10 million annual passenger mark. That's great, but the airport is supposed to open in a year. And it's a 35 km trip into town. To Pochen...

Re: Farewell to an Era: Phnom Penh International Airport Set to Shut Down to Make Way for New Airport Next Year
Eventually the new airport should be capable of handling 50 million passengers per year which is about the number San Francisco processed in 2023. That's some allowance for future growth right there. But was it the reason the airport was moved to the new site that is outside the city? Back in the d...

Re: Farewell to an Era: Phnom Penh International Airport Set to Shut Down to Make Way for New Airport Next Year
no idea whats the point with a new aport ... they cant get enough flights coming to this one so a tad waste of money... To be prepared for future growth perhaps as with all city planning where you plan decades ahead and not just for today? It takes time to build a airport from the proposal to a air...

Re: Farewell to an Era: Phnom Penh International Airport Set to Shut Down to Make Way for New Airport Next Year
no idea whats the point with a new aport ... they cant get enough flights coming to this one so a tad waste of money... Already in 2019 the old airport had more passengers than the planned capacity was. Obviously, in the last few years, the airport has been pretty empty, because of obvious reasons.
