Re: Visiting an Orphanage

Certain heads of orphanages have been in Cambodia for many long years. I remember routinely running into one back when I was first in the Kingdom of Wonder, and low and behold, she is still there. I believe that there was an interesting technique for putting a disabled young man to sleep at night. ...

Re: Don't get involved

Not sure about being blamed for an accident but you could end up footing the hospital bill, which is what happened to me. Crash outside the house. Two young girls on a moto driver fucked off. Wife said don’t get involved but I’m an former EMT so was duty bound to help, plus one was losing a lot of ...

Re: Aircon remote sensor repair?

It seems to be the sensor is the only problem. Both of them said the sensor was bad, then they said "no can" to fix it. There's nothing odd about the board itself, just looks to be a 3 pot solder job. I'll just have another go then with a different chap and hope it was just the last guys ...

Re: Being a “single” woman in Phnom Penh

As I recall... I have to give jah steu credit here. Many years ago we tearfully farewelled Orange Dragon on a rather interesting pub crawl that passed through one of jah's establishments. Mrs Stroppy and I attended as a married couple, and two other couples were also present. We ended up in the &qu...

Re: Visiting an Orphanage

Being that I personally met numerous people who are better off, and some enormously so such as my wife, it lends to my support of them as an organization. Yep. Totally understand that your experience varies - but I would suggest this may have been in the distant past (although correct me otherwise)...

Re: Being a “single” woman in Phnom Penh

I'm sorry that happened to you Rozzie, that's pretty damned ugly. Not sure what you mean by "as a man" - if I was present and saw that happening to a woman on her own, I'd intervene, as I'm sure most of the men here would. If the guy approached me and got to that level of harassment I'd pu...
