Re: The Cambodian Coronavirus Exception ?

It's quite clearly environmental factors. Cambodia isn't on it's own, this whole region has had no where near the impact we've seen in Europe and North America:

Re: What is with all the 40 year old Barangs dying from heart attacks?

Cambodia survival playbook:

1. Don't take hard drugs
2. Don't self medicate
3. Don't ride a motorbike
4. Don't come here if you are suicidal, insane or both
5. Don't come here if you have a dodgy ticker

Unfortunately Cambodia seems to attract of a lot of people who tick all five boxes.

Re: The Inevitable and forthcoming Lock-Down

So the lockdown happened as expected, I guess HS came up with a similar payoff matrix as the one I hypothesised. I still think HS is a student of game theory, he certainly talks about "win-win" a lot. He's also very good at using diversion: 1. Look over here we're debating a state of emerg...

Re: Interview with organiser of

I’m confused. So the British Embassy in Cambodia is so ineffective because it’s been gutted, or hasn’t been gutted enough? This isn't about funds or resources. You don't need funds or resources to keep people informed, you don't need funds or resources to throw your weight behind a citizen who is u...

Re: Interview with organiser of "private" UK repatriation flight - UK embassy response has been "pitiful" -

The citizens do fund them, but not to be travel agents. They are public servants , paid for by the people, for the people. It's about time they remembered that. Times of crisis really show you who is worth their salt, the British Embassy here in this time of crisis has proven what we all already su...

Re: The Inevitable and forthcoming Lock-Down

The most important part of a SIR model or any funnel metric is the transition rate from one state to the next. So I agree with what you are saying if we are talking about colder northerly climates that were experiencing 35% daily growth rates on all metrics before any non-clinical interventions were...

Re: The Inevitable and forthcoming Lock-Down

More on topic... many locals seem convinced that a state of emergency will be declared as soon as it has passed through the various stages of law and been signed off by the king or his proxy. But why? Many businesses have been closed or restricted already, most people are staying at home as much as...

The smell wafts across the Irish channel from time to time.
