If interests differ, this probably reflects different market perceptions of risk (of depreciation). Pegged currencies are typically only pegged until they aren't. I have no idea about the Real, but with the general strong dollar sentiment at the moment, I wouldn't put significant amounts of money in...

Ok. Considering a per capita GDP of maybe 1300 in 2015, that seems relatively much. (Still hard to imagine to get by on USD 2/day, though, in a city.)

Yeah, and an interesting economical question. Why does it seem that in undeveloped economies, there are "no jobs", while so much would need to be done, obviously?

Well, I haven't been up to much yet, mostly working from my hotel room. I hope I'll have time for more exploration on the weekend. Compared to China, people here are much more quiet and don't seem to care much about foreigners (which isn't bad), similar to Thailand I would say. People smile at you, ...
