Re: is riel a real currency ?
If interests differ, this probably reflects different market perceptions of risk (of depreciation). Pegged currencies are typically only pegged until they aren't. I have no idea about the Real, but with the general strong dollar sentiment at the moment, I wouldn't put significant amounts of money in...

Re: Hello / Anyone for a beer?
Well, I haven't been up to much yet, mostly working from my hotel room. I hope I'll have time for more exploration on the weekend. Compared to China, people here are much more quiet and don't seem to care much about foreigners (which isn't bad), similar to Thailand I would say. People smile at you, ...

Re: Hello / Anyone for a beer?
Wacky Jacky, yeah, I did say street 136.... Anchor Moy: Well I most likely have problems understanding local customs... The punching was a small begging boy, as mentioned, just his way to earn a living. (I guess most people just give the money, as you are rather helpless in that situation. In China,...

Well General, I have already been shouted at for not understanding English, and punched by a boy. How much worse can it get?

Re: Hello / Anyone for a beer?
Oh-oh. Just arrived and already people are calling me names ;-( Thanks a lot, Anchor Moy, for the detailed information. I hadn't heard about street 51 (sounds kinda like the precursor to area 52), but I did my research now (not really into clubbing). The problem with the area I was in before (riverf...
