Re: My experience with Cambo Quick

I had a good experience with Cambo Quick too. Cheaper and quicker than the forecast/quote that Amazon gives you on the search page. It was just one book. I'm afraid I've forgotten for the minute how long it took but I recall it arriving sooner than even the CQ guy told me to expect.. He was very ple...

Re: only in Cambodia :: Kep is ODF

It is noteworthy, actually. My missus said that when she was growing up she and her grandmother would just dart into a wooded area behind their home when it was time for a No. 2. (Or I suppose a No. 1 for that matter). Not so remote in time or place - that was Kandal in the late 80s, early 90s. A fr...

Re: Siem Reap Governor Decrees Noise Must Stop at Midnight

This is good news and in fact a rare display of sensible governance. I agree that the Temple (hotel company) monopoly here is depressing. It seems they own not only all of Pub Street but apparently many of the smaller to medium sized hotels, so I’m guessing this wouldn’t have happened without their ...

Re: Banana's

The banana ghost is not an Ap. It comes from a specific type of banana plant, so they must be planted a certain distance from your house. https://i.imgur.com/7s7NnBI.jpg That's the one. I'm not sure why my Mrs associates it with the bananas with seeds. Yeah now that I think of it the aaps are thoug...

Re: Banana's

My Khmer better half says they're bad luck. Or more specifically the trees from which bananas with seeds grow. There's a Khmer ghost tale (and movie inevitably) about a female ghost (or possibly an "aap"... the floating torsos with entrails hanging down..I think they're always female) that...

Re: Need advice on buying Borei unit

I think the point in hard title is an important one. There was a story a few years ago where a developer sold off borey units then used the hard title for the land as collateral to start the next project. The next project failed and the bank took back the land from under the people who has paid the...

Re: Need advice on buying Borei uni

I’ve little to add, but we looked at a couple. One in particular stands out as it was torrential rain at the time. We couldn’t hold a conversation, it was that loud. The flat roof concept was a big red flag. The water was not able to fully run off without a broom, and there was evidence that some r...

Re: Need advice on buying Borei unit

@rogerrabbit has said pretty much exactly what I was going to. Reference the hard title, many borey developments don't actually subdivide the land and get the individual hard titles for each plot until the development is completed, which can be risky. Also note that if you purchase it on a payment ...

Re: Need advice on buying Borei unit

Go with the borey.. buying land and building is expensive as heck... As for the title definitely make sure its hard and its transferred when all paid for. The need faith in the company but if it makes you fell better other khmers will be in the same boat. Delays and budget overrun when building fro...
