Re: Breaking work contract pt 2 at ELT Institute
Well you're pleasant. I stated we are willing to pay back the fees regarding the visa and permit because that is what is in Cambodian law, that the employer is entitled to damages incurred. Fine. Our issue is with the clause regarding paying them a month's salary back. I got my own job/visa sorted ...

Re: Breaking work contract pt 2 at ELT Institute
You can't expect an employer to cough up serious money for paperwork you can use elsewhere too and then run off after a week because it suits you and the place is a disorganized shit hole in your opinion. Apparently they're well enough organized to arrange the paperwork for their employees in time....

Re: Breaking work contract pt 2 at ELT Institute
I might not have mentioned it actually but we were always willing to pay that back, no problem. You (conveniently?) didn't mention they paid for the paperwork / visa, nor did you mention the intention to reimburse the school, but this is a game changer of course. You can't expect an employer to cou...

Re: Breaking work contract pt 2 at ELT Institute
But, as they paid prob almost $400 to sort wp and stuff it changes things a little Indeed, pay for the wp + visa and put the 1 weeks work you did down to experience. Also, since your new school is aware of the situation the inferred threat of informing them will land on deaf ears by the sounds of t...

Re: Breaking work contract pt 2 at ELT Institute
I posted the other day about some bother my partner is in with ELT Institute / Berkely International School. Shame they won't be getting their corruption money thenPhnom Krom wrote: ↑Sat Aug 06, 2022 8:50 pm If I may interject, and please adjust percentages, there is a 90% chance HR (any employee at all companies in Asia) will keep 50+% of any corruption monies received with the remainder to be shared amongst the higher chain.

Re: Breaking work contract
My gut feeling tells me the one month punishment only is activated after the probation period. The employer guarantees two years of work (OK, 21 months after probation) but wants a security in return too. The full contract with all its' obligations should only start after said probation. That’s wha...

Re: Breaking work contract
I thought first school had to remove a teacher from their official quota in order for another school to add that Person to their quota? Or I may be thinking about something connected to the work visa - been awhile so mixed memory. If something like that is the case, the first school may delay that ...
