Re: Speed boat Phnom Penh to HCMC
There's no commercial service, but possible to do a private charter. I paid about $100/day for a slow boat to drive around the delta backwaters for a week from Chau Dac, but you could also go to HCMC this time of year.

Re: Self Transfer - Hand Luggage - online Check-in
AFIAK, Batik flies out of KLIA1, (while AirAsia is always KLIA2) so you'll have to go landside and take the train between terminals. Would think 1.5 hours is enough, but tight.

Immigration/Tax lawyer
Hi gang, I'm transitioning from a salaried employee with a Cambodian entity to a salaried employee with a foreign entity (so freelance?). However, I plan to continue living in Cambodia. As such, I need to consult a lawyer on some tax and immigration questions. Can anyone recommend a reliable lawyer ...

Replacement for lost work permit card
My work permit card recently went missing (through no fault of my own). I would like to get the card reissued, as I will need it to renew my visa. Any idea what the process is? I tried to reach out to MoLVT online, to no success. The hitch is, the permit was processed by my employer, who recently cl...

Re: transit through chinese airport
I don't know about transferring Xiamen specifically (it's possible to do without going through immigration in some cases at that airport), but to enter China just need to do a self-administer rapid test. You need to complete a health declaration online, but don't need to submit proof of the test and...

Re: ABA credit card - renewal
To qualify for an ABA credit card, I needed to have a fixed deposit. You then get a credit limit worth something like 90% of your collateral. Since I lock in a certain minimum (I think it's +$3k), they waive the fees on a platinum card and throw in 10 free passes to the airport lounges in PP and SR....

Re: Any Sports Bars Opened Early To Watch NHL Hockey Games
Score bar will show any NHL game on-demand, but they don't open early enough to see eastern games live (you might have better luck as a Vancouver fan). The owner is a Habs fan and is very lovely. Unfortunately there seems to be technical issues with their system every time I've watched a game there....

Re: Can western women find relationship success with western men in Cambodia
I haven't had much luck with Khmer women. Have found it hard to find those who are educated, independent, comparable income, fluent in English, and have shared values (and are still single). But have come to know terrific women from other countries in the region (Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, Taiwan)....

Re: Aba Pay
My understanding is that you can't open a bank account if you're in the country on a tourist visa. You also need to show an employment contract or long-term lease.

Re: Bhutan
Went on a tour a few years ago and enjoyed it. You'd pay the same amount for a cruise or guided tour to any high income country in Europe, etc, so actually saw it as quite good value because the relative experience is quite unique. There are plenty of cheaper ways to visit the Himalayas if cost is t...
