Re: Do any banks accept foreign cheques?

I feel we are getting slightly out of topic here, but concerning money international transfers, what I personally do it this: There is an online company called ofx.com I used them many many times. The idea is that they have "local" accounts in various countries, so they can give you a grea...

Re: Visa run to Vietnam via Bavet

Hi all, As promised, a quick update on my run. I took a "taxi" at the Olympic market for 30k (the kind you sit 4 in the back seat, 2 in the front, and the driver sometimes share his seat with someone for a few km...) around 630am. Took me right next to the check point in about 3h. Despite ...

Re: Visa run to Vietnam via Bavet

Oh, that's interesting! Yes, I am close to Olympic than Monivong (I'm near Northbrige school, Est end of street 2004). But getting to route 1 bridge early in the morning might work. Could you say more about where you get a minivan there? What you suggest is to go to Krong Svay Rieng and from there g...

Re: Cambodia-Thailand Visa Run Via Pailin?

Thanks a bunch Jimpson! It is still a bit hard for me to picture, how this is actually done. But knowing I probably won't be the only one is reassuring! An agency offers me a ticket to Ho Chi Min city for 12USD/way. Apparently, you get off the bus, do the crossing, and then get back on the bus to co...

Re: Cambodia-Thailand Visa Run Via Pailin?

- flying to Bangkok is much more convenient (80 USD up return if you plan in advance) and not crazy expensive as it used to be If I could really do it for 80USD by plane, of course that would be perfect. I just looked at AirAsia. For 83USD I can fly Thursday night (11PM) and back friday morning (7a...

Re: Cambodia-Thailand Visa Run Via Pailin?

Sorry, yes I mean Ho Chi Min city, of course! I need a visa for vietnam, but i'm going to go get in now (40$, 48h), should get it by friday. If you are up to a road trip to Bavet this weekend, let me know! Otherwise i'll have to pay 30$ for the bus, and wait there, etc. I would go with a Khmer relat...
