Re: Khmer language: beginners' questions

Hi, I hope it is OK to start a topic where I and other beginning learners of Khmer can ask questions. Like: At the noodle shop, how do you say "dine in/take away"? I invented "nyam tini/yok tng" but how do you really say it? One guy taught me "cheroo tng" for take away...

A POLL on Video Tutorial on How to Read and Spell Khmer Alphabets

Hi, there.

I'm here to conduct a poll as to how many of you are interested in learning our Khmer alphabets. If more than 100 people say 'yes' in the reply, I'll make a video tutorial on that for you.

Re: SERIOUS QUESTION

How do you all define a successful life? I actually don't know if i am too young to think about this. I just recently feel like i am so confusing and find myself in the middle of no where. I don't know what to do and plan for the future. It seems like i am stuck in one place, no moving. Looking to ...

Re: Tricky grammar question

"រក" means look for. "បាន" means have. "រកបាន" means "look for - have," which means find or found. Found is the past tense of find. Same meaning, just different tense. please, if you using បាន baan as a past tense particle you need to put it before the thing ...

Re: used idiom

I was talking with my wife and her niece this morning when that young relative excitedly informed us she had just bought "turasapdai kalip muy, tai thauk min.." (a quality mobi, but very cheap.) Since I'm looking for a new phone I pressed her for more details. She said it was a good price...

Re: Cambodian words with no English equivalent

Well, I think there are a lot of such words/phrases. Let's have a look at the followings: ខ្លាំងបាត់ /khlangng batt/ Explanation: It is said when people didn't expect that you dared to do things, but you did. ម៉ែអាខ្នោរ /mae ah khnoa/(the writing for ខ្នោរ is ខ្នុរ/khnol/) Explanation: It is just an...

Re: Cambodian words with no English equivalent

I was told there is no Khmer word for mirror, they just use the word for glass ...which is why the bathroom cabinet I got made had clear glass in the door instead of a mirror. Is this right? There's a Khmer word for 'Mirror', bro. It's translated as 'kornhnh-chorkk'. 'Glass' is translated as 'Keo /...

Re: Learn Khmer with a Native Khmer for Free!

Thank you, bro. I agree with you. Normally this is how I do in the classroom. That's good, I'd say. I might include that in the next video tutorials. Thank you for you advice.
