Re: TRUMP Inauguration Jan 20 2025
He used to be a celebrity with good career prospects. Obviously, something went wrong somewhere and now he's scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Re: Kampot LED hell!
Please tell me this is just x-mass thing and they will take all this crap down? As far as I know, there are just two LED displays in Kampot, a large one at the Durian Roundabout and a new smaller one on the other side of the river across from the Spouting Seahorse or "Singapot". Neither h...

Re: US politics topics and CEO
The only thing worse than discussions about politics is a meta-discussion about the discussion of political topics.
I would say, as someone who never reads nor adds to such threads, that there's no need to hide them. Those who aren't interested will naturally just say "no."

Re: Monthly Budget in Cambodia 2025
I watched this last night. It seems I came to the same conclusion in my late 30s (a mid-life crisis ?). I realised that I was frivolously spending money on toys to compensate for my lack of personal freedom, being tied to running a business. Flying to a European capital for a weekend when for the s...

Re: Best balcony plants (fotos, please)
Plants I have had success with: Spider plants, Dwarf rose bush, Aloe vera and Rain lily. My orchids thrive but don't want to bloom.
As they are succulents, cacti are actually kind of tricky. Cherry tomatoes grew well but didn't really bear fruit.

Re: Cashless Vs cash payments - What's your ratio?
Mine's about 50-50. I use app transfer/QR code for rent, restaurants, coffee shops, larger purchases and when I don't have enough cash or it's just more convenient/faster to whip out the phone. I use cash for buying fruit, drinks, tuk tuks, or other small things, and tips/beggars. I also carry a cou...

Re: Two Wasted Decades in Thai Politics
Getting ready for the third one... It's so hard to believe Mr. T is still around. I remember how optimistic everyone was when he became PM. "He's already rich, so no corruption. He's a successful businessman, so he can fix the post-1997 Tom Yum Kung financial crisis economy." This was afte...

Re: Why is there no McDonalds in Cambodia?
As a kid growing up in the States in early 70s, I know first-hand that McDonald's was never meant to be good food. The whole point was that you were on the typical American vacation, which for some reason always meant driving through multiple states to reach your destination in the shortest possible...
