Most housing is built with wood, which doesn't last long in this climate even if you want it to. Your best bet is to search for former royal residences or find something that was buried in perfect conditions by pure chance.

I looked it up and the crackdown was in 2022. In my mind it felt like it was at least 5 years ago but yeah, the prisons are still full of domestic convicts.

The OP went from wanting to marry to wanting to bounce at the first speed bump his relationship hit. I'm glad he calmed down and learnt how to communicate with his girl and her family. My advice: Take a few years to get to know someone, their family and their culture before you marry them.

I drove the full length of St51 from Wat Phnom to BKK last night with no issues. Maybe 2 mins slower than usual but if I hadn't been told riverside was closed I wouldn't have noticed.

@David Gordon I have a clothes rail on my balcony and hang my laundry on hangers and then transfer it directly to my wardrobe when it's dry. No need to fold anything.

Is the dry season still considered to be the best time to be in the country? I'd recommend early and mid rainy season over this since there's not much flooding before September.

Also a trip home can take up half your annual income when you need to pay for 4 seats, trains and taxis. 1 night in a big city hotel costs as much as a month's rent in Kampot.
