Never cared much for hua hin, just a stop between phuket an points north, Expensive why not head to koh Chang for a few days or Kanchanaburi Totally agree, Koh Chang and Kanchanaburi, because Huahin is a shithole just like Phuket is, with the worst Thai that you could want in whole country.
