I’m sure I saw the big mobile stuffed toy sales thing a few weeks back, going through its customary route near 136. We bought a massive bear when middle child was 3 going on 4, and now the little fella is all over it, too, some 3+ years later. It’s actually bigger than all 3 kids together, and remar...

I’ll give a thumbs up to Central. I was a tad sparse with the details on Sunday. I was nursing a broken nose among a few other issues, and then the snatch and grab that I witnessed the day before had me pondering the question that I posted. I did go to Khema (the whole family are well known, there, ...

Re: Faulty Street Electric Cables Burn Down 6 Houses

A lot of wiring here, is permanently exposed to the elements, when it’s not really designed or expected to be. Insulation breaks down. UV accelerates it. There are appropriate materials for external cabling, but they’ll not be cheap. Everyone everywhere wants it done cheaply. Wiring naturally ages, ...

Assuming that new year hasn’t drawn everybody away, I would be heading to my usual along st13, at the end of st172, between the pagoda and the market.

Re: Jimmy Savile : A British horror story

There are a few comments in this thread about how Savile looks weird, creepy. But it was, as I recall, part of his charisma, back in the '70s. How much of that creepiness expressed now is based on what we know now about his activities that came to light? Back many decades ago, a certain type of neat...

That must be very unsettling for a pilot. Layman’s (possibly dumb) question here, what if you emerge through the fog to see runway already under you, how can you tell if there’s still enough runway left for stopping the aircraft? Chad. Not a dumb question at all. We have 3 types of precision approa...

I’m absolutely in favour of zis. I should like to inform the gestapo on myself immediately. As a young teenager, I found it necessary to tidy up my room just to remind myself what colour the carpet was.

At least every crew member could walk away from this one. One needed a check out in the hospital, but apart from that they did ok. I think DHL's HR department may beg to differ.
