She's broad minded and curious without being even slightly judgmental - can anyone recommend a suitable hostess bar to take her to where a) you mongers won't feel threatened, b) the girls will be comfortable with the friend and Mrs Stroppy being present, and c) a little less seedy than the places some of you lot might drag yourself out of at 9am :D ? Our friend won't be trawling, just curious.
I'd suggest Loco Bar in street 130. And as I've sold out of it recently, this can be considered an impartial view!

It has a lively atmosphere, lots of friendly but definitely not pushy girls, and the music is neither hip hop nor deafening. Plus the toilets are fantastic.

A lot of couples go there and don't feel threatened or disgusted. It gives you a good idea of a hostess bar without the sleaze.

After that if the friend wants more, I'd suggest Oasis on street 136, or Airforce on street 104. Both are busy hostess bars packed with girls.

And if your friend is that way inclined, 69 Bar on 136 has a couple of stunning girls who will go out with western female customers
Mrs. Sir Q and I went in there with a few other CEO members. At first, even my dumbass thought it would be a horrible idea, but alas, alcohol helped in the decision. So we all went in. Loco bar was cool and chill. Not 1 working girl looked at my missus or I with a "WTF are you doing in here" look. We sat on the couch and enjoyed some beers with other CEO Members. I liked seeing my missus go outside of her comfort zone. It was a great time and no one bothered us. Music wasn't bad, place was clean.

Yeah, I am no expert as I haven't been single in Cambodia minus a few days spent backpacking here. I do believe when I first arrived I had a night out at Mr. Butterfly or the Candy Bar with a few K440 posters. I can't say if it would be cool to take your friend there. I mean, if she is looking for the experience. Take her to Candy bar or something in between Loco and Walkabout ( In between in terms of sleaziness not location)

TLDR- Loco Bar
I'll give ya 500 Riel for it...

That's bullshit. Image

Actually I've only ever been to Loco a couple times. I like Shanghi and Larry's. It's more low key and the clientele are generally interesting guys that you can easily have a conversation with. The girls aren't really pushy either.

I try to avoid GSM altogether but sometimes end up there when I'm drunk and want to donate money to people by walking around in a stupor and letting them steal all the money from my pockets.

After 2am, GSM is nothing but bad news, IMO.
I wouldn't say that. 2 AM is early. I would say when 4AM rolls around and the sun is shortly about to rise is when people who should be home stay out.

A few weekends ago, at about 5 am outside of GSM in the street, there was this drunken white dude. Sounded Italian. He was being such a cunt in our general vicinity and just needed to go home. My Khmer friend who was just shutting her pub there down for the night was sitting with me and we both watched this shit go down. The dude had everyone's attention, including the 2 khmer security gaurds at GSM who seemed to have dealt with this guy every weekend, according to said Khmer friend. The security guards ask him to leave and just kinda escort him out without any physicality. On his way out, this drunk decided it was a good idea to push a random whore who was walking by to the ground. In an instant, the small Khmer security guard grabbed this drunk by the throat, looked him in the eyes for a few seconds, cocked back an open hand... left it cocked back for about 2 seconds and then slapped the dude in the face so hard he fell to the ground. Whole time this whore was going crazy and I thought she was going to give the drunk worse.

I heard about GSM security getting over-zealous, but they handled the situation pretty nicely. I wrapped things up and as I was leaving about 20 minutes later, I saw the same drunk dude stumbling back to GSM.
I'll give ya 500 Riel for it...

I didn't know if i could drop his name , but yes, it was with General Mack and RobW. That night was probably one of the best nights out drinking that I have ever had in my life. It could have had something to do with RobW's refusal to let me drink the swill out of the tap and insisted on ordering me top shelf whiskey all night. ( Yes, he really does buy lady drinks for the girls and then tells them to go away from him so he can chat in peace with the fellas, hell of a fucking drinking mate)

I believe at one point in the night, we all decided to piss off somewhere else and I ended up on the back of a moto with some very butch looking Khmer lesbian whom I believe RobW referred to as his "bodyguard"- Jesus......

I just remember RobW buying the girly Tequila shots for the girls coming up to us and then promptly but politely telling them to go drink it at the end of the bar. That was when I knew I was in the presence of an true boss.

;)

Probably one of the more respectable places his name has ever been dropped.
