Democracy ???

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Nope. 'Murica, the land of the free, idealises lyrical about democracy but is, in fact, an oligarchy.

Democracy is a misunderstood concept. Most nations perceived to be democracies are actually Republics.

Not so. Behavioural studies have shown (no citation, so clearly I'm making this up) that the guys subconsciously look to one or two alphas to lead the pack, and are happy to follow as a herd.

Maybe If you're a young pup. When you are older you'll understand there's no Alfa pimp leading shit ... just guys having a drink.

I don't mean to sound harsh, Grasshopper, just ... it becomes less important about who's got Bucks or Position later in life.

India (one man one vote) and Scandinavia, maybe Netherlands.

But when they are told what to do by bankers, not many independent places left.

On the other hand, why do we automatically assume democracy is the best model? Because Murika claims to be one?

How's that working out for its citizens? Not so well.

Maybe Germany? Finland? Iceland?
Money is human happiness in the abstract; he, then, who is no longer capable of enjoying human happiness in the concrete devotes himself utterly to money.
