how does Bon Pchum Ben Day affect Phnom Penh daily life ?

Ask us anything. Cambodia Expats Online has a huge community of long-term expats that can answer any question you may have about life in Cambodia. Have some questions you want to ask before you move to Cambodia? Ask them here. Our community can also answer any questions you have about how to find a job or what kind of work is available for expats in Cambodia, whether you're looking for info about Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, or anywhere else in the Kingdom. You're also welcome to ask about visa and work permit questions as well, as the immigration rules change often, especially since COVID-19. Don't be shy, ask CEO's community anything!

If someone pulls a gun or a knife on you - I'd suggest cooperating to the fullest extent of your abilities. But yeah, they can't steal what you don't have either.

Mugging, bag snatching is still fairly uncommon here but it does pick up around the big holidays and it does happen all year long. Taking sensible precautions (just like anywhere else in the world) can keep risks to a minimum.

Don't think that because traffic is lighter it is safer. People drive faster, and many will be drunk, driving without lights on etc. Kamikaze season.

Heading down Monivong late the other night, us in our bright yellow giant 8-seater tuktuk and just one idiot coming the other way, lights are all flashing. Sure as there are little green apples, the idiot had to cut me off at the intersection. The whole other road, no single other vehicle moving, just had to race me into the intersection from the other side to be in a position to cut me off hard. Muppet.
