What? Who wouldn't want to watch drunkun or iced-up prostitutes stumbling by while their eating Dim Sum?

They're not prostitutes! They're escorts!

But yeah, Golden Sorya Mall... or Street 51 in general really... isn't the place for a nice food shop. Especially at night.

If history is anything to go by I'd say the boys will flip it sooner or later. Mall management will tell a potential buyer whatever they want to hear provided they get a cut from the sale. If the wrecking ball comes a week after sale "oops, we didn't know and there's fuck all you can do anyway".
In early concept the mall was supposedly meant to take on the form of a middle range international food court- and, indeed, there are a few good restaurants- but the designers didn't fctor in that the existing scrounge bars across the street, or the fucking slum behind said bar might make it a less homly family eat destination. Seeing that the whole thing was a tempory project for people who own the land I doubt they care anyhow.

Yeah that was also my take on it. They put up a decent decor and served food well above the price-range of their competitors in the immediate vicinity. Terrible business plan from the get-go so not exactly surprising that it'd fail. They could have thrived in a tiny shophouse that cost as much in rent down in Toultompong or BKK. Instead they chose the seediest place in town, making sure none (or rather, a large portion) of their target clientele would never bother going there. If they were near Russian market, they would have been inundated by the herds of whities/foreigners living next door to them.

Is it sold? Earlier in the thread someone mentioned it was in FB Phnom Penh Buy and Sell, but I couldn't find it.

It's been there for ages. He bumps it up now and then. Given the traffic there, it isn't surprising that you wouldn't find it without a recent bump.
