The Tourist Monk Strikes Again! (with pictures)

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

The Tourist Monk Strikes Again! (with pictures)

Post by General Mackevili »

Ahhhh... This guy looks like a total idiot.. He's still wearing the tacky t-shirt and jasmine pants he bought on Kao San Road yesterday before busing it from Bangkok, Siem Reap and finally stumbling into Phnom Penh and meeting his dream girl at Golden Sorya Mall last night.

Yes, he'll definitely shell out some cash to impress his newly beloved...

Image

Hewwo!!! I'm an ordained monk. Please hold this bracelet!!! It's FREE!!!! Go ahead... Put it on! Ok, ok, free to look at.. Ha! Gotcha! Sucker!

Shit. Security's watching now..

Image

How much will you pay me to away?

Nuffin? It's ok.. I'll just stand here until you change your mind..

Image

Still not annoyed?? I'll make stupid faces..

Image

Why THANKS YOU!!! May the Gods bless you!! What? Yes, I meant Buddha. Oops. I am real monk, I just play play.

Image

Yes, $2 is fine!! I've made $237 dollars today thus far!!

Oh, I'm keeping a record of the dumbest people on the face of the planet, would you mind writing your name and nationality on my list? Yes, it's a very thick book! What can I say, the planet is filled with idiots!!

Image

This couldn't be easier!! I love my job!!!!!

Image

Let me see what this moron wrote... No way!! Another freaking American!! Too fucking easy!!! HAHAAHHAHAHHHAAH!!!!!

Street 172. Ponleu Mart.

I had my video camera ready, but he didn't bother coming over. Maybe he saw me holding up my phone the size of the 10 Commandments to get these shots from across the street. :fool:

The cedar roasted asparagus has good chew. I don't know how to enjoy it, so I'll Instagram it instead.

There were 2 of these yo-yos on 172 at about 6-6:30 pm today making the rounds of Barangia together.

There's 3 of them operating in Kompong Som at the moment too.

Was in bar the other night at 1am when one came in. Aussie guy I was talking to took a necklace from him, I leaned over and said - "it's a scam, he's not a real monk", Aussie gave him $10 anyway. After the 'monk' had gone I asked him why he had given him cash? He replied that he got a blessing. I asked "what do you think a real monk would be doing in a place surrounded by girly bars at 1am giving blessings to non believers?" He just looked at me and slowly the light came on in his Jamesons effected eyes. This is a guy that has 45 employees in the 2 companies he owns in Austrailia. Not a stupid man by any means. Ignorance knows no boundaries. Mind you he did shout the next 6 drinks for being a kok. :)

Yeah, they must have spread out.

The guy I took pictures of was not the one I've usually seen around street 172.

Yeah, he's the one that I kicked in the bum one time. We almost had a fight. He's a big bloke and it would have made some great footage - us fighting to the death.
