Destitute Aussie in Siem Reap???

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. Destitute Aussie in Siem Reap???

Post by hanno »

So there I was, sitting at Charlie's, having a few cold ones and watching one of the heaviest downpours I have seen in Cambodia when this skinny, barefoot, and completely soaked Aussie slunk in.

He made me and started telling me of how he lost his money and he was going to get funds next week. I wanted my peace and quiet and gave him a tenner but now I am wondering if anyone knows who this dude is. I certainly haven't seen him before....

I've had a couple of Aussie beggars hit me up in the Reap recently; they're shit out of luck when it comes to funds though - I'd rather help a down on their luck local than some idiot who couldn't manage to keep a passport and plane ticket handy.

Australia is sending refugees and beggars to Cambodia, I see. Very kind of them.

I think we still have fund from the refugee deal, perhaps our government will use it to settle down those destitute Aussie. :ROFL2:

You're kidding Samouth - I'm afraid the money is already spent. :D
But maybe the Cambodians could exchange him for a Rohingya ? (Probably eats less and definitely drinks less. )

@JSP Good luck with that.
