Actually, suicide is not illegal (in England it was legalised in the Suicide Act 1961, in Scotland it was never illegal in the first place). Of course there were never any prosecutions for suicide but there had been some for attempted suicide, this ceased to be a crime in 1961. On the right facts, a suicide assister can easily be guilty of murder or manslaughter. If the facts do not support a prosecution for either of these offences, it is not normally a crime to incite someone to do something that is not a crime but the 1961 Act maintained the offence of incitement to commit suicide.

Here in Florida, USA, suicide is "self homicide." So, of course Assisted Self Homicide is a felony. Just learned this.

It doesn't mention who was the first to instigate the suicide but he did suggest a suicide pact. This isn't assisted suicide because your quality of life has declined to a point of no return.

I see this girl as wanting attention and she found it in being the victim of her "online" lovers suicide. She started a charity and it mentions she accused another person of trying to take away her credit for the charity. It clearly seems she wanted to be in the spotlight and she found it.

GM I don't usually disagree with you on many thing but this I do. Would you say someone wasn't to blame for a persons suicide, if knowing a person was depressed and suicidal then they brought them a bottle of sleeping pills and a liter of Jack to wash it down with?

I would personally think this would be voluntary manslaughter, or another term I'm forgetting. She didn't actually take his life so it's manslaughter but she told him to get back into his truck to finish killing himself and in effect calling him a pussy if he didn't finish it. So there was no involuntary part to it, she was a willing participant in his suicide.

I think suicide should carry the death penalty.
