Editing your own post. Is there a time limit?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Editing your own post. Is there a time limit?

Post by UKJ »

I had saved the "under a grand" thread to read. When I read it through, there were several posts that someone had gone back and deleted, making parts of it incomprehensible. I know some forums have a short time window that you can go back and edit , which is a good idea imo. Is there a time limit here?

No time limit.

You can edit "your" posts anytime "you" want.

Hope that answers your question.

Do you think it would be a good idea to put a limit on it? Like 24 hours?

I think it should have a time limit.

Maybe your always allowed to delete it, but not edit it.

I can think of ways where anyone can totally exploit this.

If you did put a time limit will the time limit be longer if you're travelling backwards through timezones?

I remember a guy did exploit it on another forum by going back and editing stuff, and later denying he ever said it! They put a three day limit on it after that.

I would like to have the option to delete my posts at a later date, if necessary.

I guess we can look at changing it if it starts to get abused.

For now I like that members are free to edit their posts at any time. It's your posts, so you have the freedom to edit them when and where you please.

Also, it does show that it's been edited (won't see it in Tapatalk though), so that should help avoid confusion.

Personally, I odn't see teh problem. If you post crap becuas eyou're drunk, just apologise, if you give false information unwittingly, just correct it.

I posted something stupid the other night because I didn't read the original post correctly (only ever happened once, LOL), then I went back and reread the original post and deleted mine.

Shirt happens.
