NZ to change their flag?
The most interesting looking ones seemed to have been rejected....The panel is now faced with the task of whittling down the longlist of 40 to four designs that will be put to a public vote in a binding referendum in November or December.
A second referendum, to be held in March 2016, will be a run-off between the current flag and the preferred alternative design.
New Zealand’s current flag, a pairing of the Union Jack with the Southern Cross constellation that closely resembles Australia’s, was formally adopted in 1902.

We didn't want it to become mainstream if we used it on our flag.

How do you know when a country has more money than sense? When it holds two referenda on a fucking flag design.

I'm still kinda torn over this, should we keep the flag or change it...I really dunno which side of this fence I'm sitting with this one. I do know this though, the $25 million they're spending on deciding whether or not to change the flag could be put to much better use!
I served with the NZ Army in various countries under the flag of NZ, but as our flag is so similar to the Aussies and most people know us as Kiwi's, we always wore Kiwi patches and had kiwi's painted onto our vehicles. That way we weren't mistaken for being Australian/American/British

1. There are TWO halves to the game
Loss to Argentina was great, will stir things up a little. Always said I'd like someone like Japan or Madagascar to win the World Cup, just to make it interesting.
