chüe khor

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. chüe khor

Post by bong.kuit »

My throat is hurting like hell, and i seem not to be the only one (gf, friends). Last heavy cough is like 4 weeks back.

I've heard sicknesses are always increasing at the turn of seasons. But the raining season didn't even really start now...

How about you? How frequently do you get sick? Are you sick at the moment? Ideas for prevention, face masks or sumfin?

Not taking the piss, just advocating for frequent hand washing with a good non-fragrance soap and usage of hand sanitizer when outside. Stay away from sick people. Last big fight I was in was when I told my GF to cover her mouth when coughing. But we were living together in a small apartment, so this I-get-sick-you-get-sick bullshit really wasn't going to float with me.

In addition....and I don't know if it's just me...the humid air really makes a cold or flu worse.

Agreed, that'll fix you right up.

I've never got a cold here yet, usually when I'm traveling for work and don't recover until I get back here to rest.

Also, orange juice... not always WITH vodka though never a bad mix. I drink about 6 glasses of OJ a day. Vitamin C is the boss... every time.

A Chinese healer once asked me an interesting question: "after how many years did you stop having uncommon illnesses ?
For me it was 2 or 3 years in which I had quite a few flus, amebiasis and various unexplained fevers.
Since then 10 years and counting and nothing more than a few colds except a seasonal chronically sinusitis that is a real pita to get rid off.

I hate to tempt fate, but... since I have been over here (just on 2 years) other then a toothache, a couple of bad hangovers and currently a broken toe, I haven't been sick once. Didn't even get the dreaded pink eye last year and I think I was the only person I know who didn't down here. The strange thing is, working in a bar/guesthouse and constantly being exposed to people from many different countries, you would think I would have got a dose of everything going around the entire world by now. Having said that, I s'pose I'm going to be in for a bad season this year!
