WHERE TO LIVE NEAR NATIONAL ASSEMBLY
WHERE TO LIVE NEAR NATIONAL ASSEMBLY
Hi
I will be moving to Phnom Penh in 3 weeks and will be working right near the National Assembly. Can anyone suggest a good area to live that is as close to this as possible?
I have been told that the usual ex-pat haunts (Russian market etc) may not be best as in traffic it will take too long to get to work.
Any suggestions are much appreciated.
(I won't be organizing anything until I get there, I just want to start researching)

Re: WHERE TO LIVE NEAR NATIONAL ASSEMBLY
Brittany, you chose one place to work where there is nowhere near.
The lakeside is gone.
If you're a tough girl, maybe Kampuchea Krom avenue, but not a nice place, especially at night.
The closest suitable is maybe Central Market/ the riverside, and neither of those will be cheap. I think Olympic Market...maybe too far? Anyone else have any ideas?
What time would you be starting and finishing work?
Get an online map, draw a perimeter you want to live within on it and upload it, then we can give better answers
The lake in the map below is no longer there, just sand now.

The new National Assembly is near Naga. Look around the Tonle Bassac area, St 21, Psah Kap Go. These areas have become quite expensive in the past few years but you'll find there are plenty of nice restaurants in the area.

Oh yes, you're right - someone pointed it out from the Oz Embassy the other day and I stupidly argued the point...John Bingham wrote:The new National Assembly is near Naga.

Thanks for all your replies!!
I think Tonle Bassac will be ideal. Failing that BKK1 should be okay!
If I'm starting work around 8/9am and live in BKK1 .... how long will it take in a tuk tuk? and price? (if any one knows)..
Again, thank you

Lakeside is still there, including some guesthouses, but the lake is gone for sure.
