A new MO for the card scammers

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

A new MO for the card scammers

Post by IraHayes »

The following happened to a male guest yesterday:

Walking near The Old Market he was approached in the usual fashion but the patter was a little different to the standard crap about a relative going to study in your country. The gentleman explained he was a Thai engineer who lived in Bangkok. He was married to a Cambodian and he was in PP to visit his brother in law. My guest was cordially invited to attend a small party they were having the next day but when he turned up to meet the guy with a friend it was all called off. The reason.... His brother in law didn't like foreigners!

He's gone back out to see if he can see him again and get his photo. I'll post it here if he does.

Right thx. A few commas in the OP would be handy.

I am thinking of setting up a scam like this, but I'm really bad at cards. Any suggestions ?

I haven't been hit up by the
Filipino Blackjack Scammers this trip. Only slightly badgered by the FakE Monk.

I have read accounts of that MO been used before, seems like they've got a few different story lines to lure naive fools back to their place.
