Toyota tools of the trade

See if you can spot two of them being used in this photo.
Specialised tool of choice for African mechanics. I once saw a couple of "mechanics" fix a faulty aircraft door at Harare airport. Smack the door, test, smack the door , test, smack the door a few more times. If the door opens three times in succession - fixed! It would have been funny if I wasn't about to fly on the thing

What's amazing is the plane kept flying. Its just shows how strong the Boeing 737 is. I wonder if an Airbus would have stayed in the air. BTW/ This was caused by corrosion and faulty maintenance/inspection in an older plane with a very high amount of cycles (take off-go to high altitude thus expanding the skin of the airplane and then back to sea level.) In my mis-spent youth I worked on the 737 for Boeing.

What I think is amazing is how fragile airliners are. Planes like the Airbus A380 with 30 thou sheets of GLARE covering the entire plane that travels 800-900 kph really don't make me feel confident in my gut, despite that I know in my head that it's much much safer to fly statistically over driving.
