A few years back, driving around the countryside there would be a wave and hello about every 2 minutes. Feels like being famous.
I guess seeing barangs on motorbikes is not so special anymore.
@Therapist - i've offered cash to get your name changed. Depends how much they want. Maybe we can do a crowdfunding thing.
As their was no amounts mentioned, I will assume the bribes of money, beer and bacon are a lifetime supply.
See you all in a few weeks.
Thank you Anchor May.
Thank you Kuroneko.
Thank you Duncan.
Thank you PhuketRichard.
And to anyone else who lobbied on my behalf or offered advice--thank you . You can hold me to beer and bacon, but as to money, I can only offer Zimbabwean dollars at this time.
P.S. I am thankful for all the clips of real-life events that GM posts on youtube almost daily.

I like that fact that when speaking Khmer to a local, it's almost always met with a smile, even if it isn't pronounced quite correctly. I also like that fact that when someone trips, or hits their head in a comical fashion, it's perfectly acceptable to join in with their laughter, and not having to be worried about said person wanting to punch you in the face for seeing the humor in the situation.

Just starting to learn survival Khmer and I am freaking thankful that Khmer is NON-TONAL unlike Thai, Cantonese, Mandarin, or Vietnamese. Tones drive me crazy.
Re: The small things appreciation thread
^^Honestly, tones aren't that bad if you're around them enough and listen to them often. I say this as someone whose native language has no tones either.
Approaching tones from a book approach or a classroom approach though I find is very frustrating though.

I found Thai way easier to learn than Khmer, but perhaps because of the enunciation. I find Khmer very nasal, and I don't mean in a long-nose way.Therapist wrote:Just starting to learn survival Khmer and I am freaking thankful that Khmer is NON-TONAL unlike Thai, Cantonese, Mandarin, or Vietnamese. I think for the total anal massage and back-slap, it's $4.40Cam Nivag wrote:I await his report of being abused for offering only $4 at the end of the massage.StroppyChops wrote:Do you have a $5 body?General Mackevili wrote:I really need a $5 body massage with steam room.
