Re: Döner Kebab in SR for $ 2
Last time a foreigner with a Khmer girlfriend launched a kebab cart - the kebab was about the size of a postage stamp. $2 for a lamb based meal in Cambodia? It can't include much more than a light shaving of lamb without the owner going bankrupt.

They're obviously trying to pull the wool over our eyes, and then they'll do a runner and go on the lamb.

They're actually "Donor" kebabs which keeps costs down.

Most of the kebab carts in Phnom Penh use Pork, I believe.hanno wrote:Maybe it is not lamb?TheGrinchSR wrote:Last time a foreigner with a Khmer girlfriend launched a kebab cart - the kebab was about the size of a postage stamp. $2 for a lamb based meal in Cambodia? It's in Siem Reap and they use chicken. Still trying to find out the exact location. In a few days I'll know. In the meantime I would appreciate if somebody in Siem Reap could find that thing, test it and report.Flynn wrote:Most of the kebab carts in Phnom Penh use Pork, I believe.

Now I've got the exact location. It's right by the old market on street 11that leads to the Red Piano. It's at the very beginning of street 11 near the river on the left side.

It's not a Doner Kebab if they use chicken. Though, admittedly it's better than nothing.Advocatus Diaboli wrote:It's in Siem Reap and they use chicken. Still trying to find out the exact location. Actually, it is. Doner Kebab just means roasted meat and there is no reference to lamb....TheGrinchSR wrote:It's not a Doner Kebab if they use chicken. It has become somewhat of a national dish in Germany where lamb is rarely used.
