A Cambodian woman arrested over the corporal punishment

Kandal: A Cambodian woman arrested after the police received a complaint from the grandfather of the victim accusing the woman for using violent against the children. She hit the victim and tied up his arms and legs with hangers.
This incident occurred on 7 May 2015 around 2:40 pm at Deoum Mean village, Deoum Mean commune, Ta Khmao city, Kandal province.
The suspect names Sok Vanna, female, 37 years old, living in place mentioned above. She is a housewife. The victim names Chhan Lyheng, male, 6 years old (Student).

According the source, because the boy was really naughty and he didn’t listen to his mother. So, she lost her temper and started to hit him and tied him up. Having seen this, the grandfather of the victim went to report it to police and asked them to intervene.

If it's her kid, why is the family name different? Are they using the father's name?

It didn't mention if she is his mother or just house but normally Cambodian children always use their father's last name.
