Nightcrawler, Jake Gyllenhall Is 1 Creepy MF

Watched it last night. It's creepy & gory w/just the right amount of action. Jake Gyllenhall is fantastic. I quite enjoyed all his dialog which seems like it was memorized verbatim from self help & how to get ahead books. It's about a manipulative guy who gets into the 'if it bleeds it leads' freelance news video biz in LA. 8/10.

For some reason I was expecting more out of this movie. It was good, just not as good as I had anticipated after seeing the score on imdb. The acting was good, but I had trouble believing the character was real.

Conversely hadn't read the reviews and was expecting less. I thought of him as an autistic, higher functioning, 'Rain Man'. It was the the only way to make sense of him.

I thought he captured the narcissism of TV reporters very well.

I always find it strange that war journos expose themselves to the point of insanity then act all surprised when they get shot, kind of like Khmers walking/driving stupidly, 'Hey, I'm Khmer, I'm invincible'.
