Tales of the Unexpected

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

In my university Biology class, we were studying pH and comparing different liquids with different pH's. The teacher went on to say that coffee has a pH around 4, urine has a pH around 5.5 and water has a pH of 7. One of the girls in my class raised her hand, and asked a serious question with a straight face..."Teacher, does that mean that it is better for you to drink urine than it is coffee?"

Years back a guy i worked with told me the tale of an American teacher in Bangkok who asked his pupils if they knew who the King was and of course they all replied Bhumibol Adulyadej to which the American laughed and said no not that king this king and held up a picture of Elvis! The students all complained and he was promptly fired, unsurprisingly .

I was teaching Cultural Studies at that bastion of uncompromising education near the centre of town.

One day, one of the managers calls me in and tells me he had a complaint from one of the students that I look down on Cambodia.

I had to confess that I had told my students that the Cambodian flag was unique in that it was the only flag in the world with a building on it.

Obviously, this was very arrogant.
Jesus loves you...Mexico is great, right? ;)
