I thought phones were only "locked" if you purchased them at a big discount as part of a contract with a specific carrier, which I have never done. I've never had a problem with any phone I bought at a retail shop.

Re: Cell phones that will work in Cambodia
I bought one in Thailand years ago. It has worked there and in Cambodia. Never tried it in the USA. I want to get another one here in the USA, to use in Cambodia and Thailand as well. If they are "unlocked," I imagine that means that they will work in Cambodia and Thailand. But I am not sure, ergo this here thread.milkncereal wrote:where did you buy the phone from? aka what country (usa might be a problem)

Re: Cell phones that will work in Cambodia
all phones will work, BUT u need a phone that can accept local sim card an is not locked to a certain carrier ( what they do in the states)
US phones can be unlocked but u need to make sure it will accept a sim or mini sim card
I use my thai Nokias all over the world along with my AIS sim ( open for roaming) or a local sim( have had them for us, Laos, Cambodia)

Just make sure it's "quad band", meaning it will work on all 4 major GSM frequencies.
And unlocked if you want to avoid the hassle of trying to get it unlocked here.
